Procore or Autodesk Build submittals vs Structio

By Bassirou Thiam, building automation engineer · Updated

Procore and Autodesk Build manage the submittal workflow: the log, routing to reviewers, markups, approvals and status. They do not produce the content of a BAS submittal. Structio produces that content, the network riser and points list, which you then upload to the platform your general contractor uses.

What submittal platforms do well

  • build the submittal log from the specs;
  • route each item to the right reviewers and track its status;
  • keep markups and approvals in one place for the whole project team.

Where they stop

They handle files, not BAS data. The riser and the points list still have to be produced, and checked against each other, before they are uploaded.

Use both

The general contractor usually chooses the platform. Produce your documents in Structio, export them, and submit them through Procore or Autodesk Build as usual.

When to choose Structio

Structio is built for one job: you describe the building once (floors, rooms, equipment, controllers) and it draws the network diagram and builds the points list from that same project, kept in sync when the job changes. Any controller brand, unlimited users, a 7-day free trial.
