Which points belong on a control drawing?

By Bassirou Thiam, building automation engineer · Updated

Show the physical points installed under the project, plus the network points that the sequence of operations actually uses. A BAS integrates a lot of third-party equipment; drawing every point every device exposes makes the drawing unreadable and adds nothing the sequence needs.

Physical points

Every sensor, actuator, relay and contact wired to a controller terminal under this contract appears, with its point type. They are what the technician checks point to point.

Network points

From integrated equipment (a chiller, a VFD, a meter), show only the values read or written by the sequence or required for monitoring by the owner. The full device map stays in the manufacturer's documentation.
